Mexican Skylight

I recently had a photo assignment (TREES) for the local camera club I belong to, and this was my submission.
I was in Cozumel Mexico earlier in the year and spent a bit of my time looking for interesting trees and other things to photograph.
I spotted this tree that had been spared by some new construction that was nearing completion and was pleased to know that not all of paradise was being paved for the sake of tourism.

Crown Crane

This inquisitive fella was outside looking in at me! Perhaps he thought I was the one actually in the cage. In a way I guess I was. This photo was taken at the Toronto Zoo.

Fall Berries - Virginia Creeper

Every once in a while I play around in Photoshop with one of my photos to see what I come up with. Most times I end up not saving them. I liked how this one turned out so I thought I would share it.

Cheetah

Cheetah is the latest addition to our family. He is a Marble Bengal cat, 2-1/2 years old we recently adopted from a family that could no longer take care of him. He is going through a major adjustment right now and probably missing his old family. He is a very affectionate cat but still afraid of his own shadow. This photo reminds me of Puss 'N Boots from the movie "Shrek".

Mom's Daisies

I shot this a while back in my parents yard. Once I finish posting some of my favorite photos of the past, I promise to post more recent photos. I still have older photos that I will post every once in a while too!

Fishing at Dawn

This photo was taken a few years ago at a friends cottage in northern Ontario, just outside Algonquin Park. It was shot with my first digital camera I bought while working in Japan back in 1999, an Olympus 3.2 megapixal camera. The one thing I always complained about with this point & shoot was all the shots I missed because the frame capture was so slow. So I found that I was restricting my photos to mostly stills or almost no movement to try to capture the moment. I sometimes think I still find myself restricting those shots out of habit, one perhaps I will try to break in the new year.

Boathouses at Dawn

I'm usually not much of a morning person but on the rare occasion I have been known to make an exception . This was one of those mornings. I was staying at a bed & breakfast in a small town at Lake Erie in Ontario back in 2005 and was awake almost before the birds. So I took advantage of the sleepiness of a quiet Sunday morning and took a stroll down to the docks in the center of town and snapped this photo.

Mexican High Noon

I was noticing all the shadows at high noon coming straight down from some objects and others had no shadows at all. Photos were taken in Cozumel Mexico 2008.

Iris

This was taken in my backyard, one of many varieties of Irises I have collected over the years.

Iris Tears

I actually caught the reflection of the other Irises in the raindrops that had formed along the edge of this flower. I made the main flower black & white in CS3 to bring out the reflections that otherwise blended in to the rest of the photo.
